Edo Guber: Nine parties align with APC for Saturday’s election

Nine political groups in Edo State have collectively decided to merge into the All Progressives Congress (APC), significantly boosting the party’s chances of securing a win in the upcoming governorship election on Saturday, 21st September.

Speaking on behalf of the Assembly of Registered Political Parties in Edo State, Sam Arase, who serves as the Chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) chapter in Edo State, publicly announced that these political groups have chosen to endorse and place their confidence in the election of the APC candidate.

These groups include the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Accord (A), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Alliance (AA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Peoples Party (APP), and the Social Democratic Party of Nigeria (SDP).

The coalition of parties has also made a public call for a peaceful election, urging the residents of Edo State to turn out in large numbers to vote for the APC. They have directed their members to actively work towards ensuring the victory of the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the next governor of Edo State.

A total of seventeen parties are competing in the Edo State governorship election, which is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2014. The results are expected to be declared after the completion of the voting process.

Senator Okpebholo, along with other gubernatorial candidates in the state, is hoping to succeed the outgoing Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who has thrown his support behind the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.
