Tragedy struck during the Christmas day celebration in Gombe State as a commercial bus lost control and crashed into a festive procession, leaving 22 people injured. This incident has been confirmed by the spokesperson for the Gombe State Police Command, Buhari Abdullahi.
According to Abdullahi, the unfortunate event occurred in the Tumfure community of Gombe State, where a group of celebrants was partaking in a Christmas procession. The victims, who were on their way to pay homage at the Government House and Gombe Emir’s Palace, were unexpectedly struck by the vehicle, causing chaos and multiple injuries.
The Police Command revealed that the injured individuals were swiftly rushed to medical facilities for urgent care. Among the hospitals providing treatment to the victims are the Federal Teaching Hospital and the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where they are receiving necessary medical attention.
In response to the incident, Abdullahi confirmed that the Gombe State Commissioner of Police has directed a comprehensive investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the crash. The Police have assured the public of their commitment to conducting a thorough probe to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.
