Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has openly expressed disappointment with President Bola Tinubu for supporting Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, in what he claims are actions aimed at destabilizing the governance of Governor Sim Fubara in Rivers State. Dokubo believes that this alliance may lead to serious unrest in the state, as he voiced his concerns during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

In the interview, Dokubo criticized what he perceives as Tinubu’s endorsement of Wike’s unchecked activities, asserting that this support enables Wike to interfere with the judicial system to disrupt peace and stability in Rivers State. He expressed concern that the situation may exacerbate regional tensions and undermine ongoing development efforts, which could have lasting negative impacts on the people of Rivers State.

Dokubo urged the Federal Government to reconsider its alliances and hold accountable any figures whose actions jeopardize stability in the region. He emphasized that his criticisms are not motivated by any personal ambition or desire for political gain from the Tinubu administration.

As a well-known stakeholder in Rivers State, Dokubo explained his discontent, stating: “And what is happening in Rivers State where President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is supporting Nyesom Wike to destabilize Rivers State, to disturb the peace of Rivers State.” He further lamented that President Tinubu’s support for Wike, a minister under his administration, allows Wike to “procure judgement and all sorts, threatening the people of Rivers State because what they are trying to do is, ‘we are going to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and nothing will happen.’”

Dokubo, however, warned that if such attempts to unseat Fubara were successful, there would indeed be consequences. He firmly stated, “And I am saying that if you remove Fubara, something will happen. That is it. That is what I’m talking about.” He reiterated that he is not driven by any expectation of personal benefit, clarifying, “I cannot be appointed minister.” His statements reflect his commitment to advocating for peace and stability in his home state rather than pursuing any personal or political agenda.
