Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, who represents Abia South senatorial district, recently spoke about his experience serving as Deputy Governor to Orji Uzor Kalu. Abaribe shared his account during an interactive session in Umuahia, the capital of Abia state. He revealed that after they were sworn in as Governor and Deputy Governor, Kalu allegedly took away Abaribe's convoy and handed it over to his wife. Abaribe recounted the incident, stating that on the day of his swearing-in, he couldn't find his designated vehicle, which had been given to him by the departing colonel. Eventually, he and his wife managed to scramble into a relative's vehicle to reach the event center. Abaribe discovered that someone had instructed the convoy to move and designated it as the convoy for the governor's wife. When Abaribe confronted Kalu about the incident, the governor claimed ignorance and simply allowed the change. Abaribe highlighted this as an example of the challenges faced in politics and emphasized the need to either accept such treatment or protest strongly, even if labeled a troublemaker. As of now, Orji Uzor Kalu, who is currently vying for the position of Senate President in the 10th assembly, has not responded to the allegation made by Abaribe.
