The Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL), a prominent umbrella organization uniting various youth groups across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, has declared its support for Seyi Tinubu as the Governor of Lagos State in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
This endorsement signifies a strong alignment among Nigerian youth, showcasing their belief in Tinubu’s leadership potential and vision for the future of Lagos State. The move highlights their determination to play an active role in shaping the political and developmental trajectory of the state.
In an official statement issued in Owerri on Tuesday, the President General of CONYL, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, along with the Secretary Comrade Junard Abubakar, Public Relations Officer Comrade Iniobong Sampson, and Publicity Secretary Comrade Adeyemo Adewale, confirmed the endorsement. They explained that this decision was reached during an enlarged meeting of the coalition’s leaders held recently.
The statement emphasized the coalition’s careful evaluation of President Bola Tinubu’s remarkable performance as a former governor of Lagos State, noting that his tenure transformed Lagos into the “Center of Excellence.” Building on this foundation, the group expressed confidence that Seyi Tinubu, as his son, would not only sustain but exceed these achievements, bringing further development and innovation to the state.
The youth leaders highlighted Lagos State’s pivotal role in Nigeria’s socio-economic and political fabric, emphasizing that the selection of its next governor is crucial. They reiterated their belief that Seyi Tinubu possesses the qualities needed to advance the state’s progress.
“Lagos State needs a leader with dynamic ideas, proven experience, and a youthful perspective to propel its growth. Seyi Tinubu has consistently demonstrated exceptional competence, making him the ideal candidate to take on this significant responsibility,” the statement said.
The group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to heed the aspirations of Nigerian youths by giving Seyi Tinubu the opportunity to lead Lagos State, showcasing the transformative potential of Nigerian youth leadership.
The statement further read: “Seyi Tinubu is a gifted, qualified, and visionary leader, whose academic and professional experiences make him uniquely positioned to lead Lagos State into a new era of development and inclusivity.”
