Nigerian artist, Zlatan Ibile, shares that his journey into music was unplanned, revealing that his true aspiration had always been to play football for FC Barcelona.
Zlatan Ibile opens up about his academic struggles during secondary school, particularly in subjects like Mathematics and Accounting. Failing his WAEC exams led to the realization that his dream of becoming a professional footballer might be thwarted, despite his fervent desire to join Barcelona.
Reflecting on his past, the "Zanku" crooner discloses that his musical career began serendipitously. It all started when a friend played him a song he had recorded, prompting Zlatan to express interest in visiting a studio. This spontaneous decision marked the inception of his journey as a musician.
Zlatan Ibile recounts, "I tried my possible best but the corruption in Nigerian football discouraged me. I was playing for a local club then. When I failed WAEC, I was going to sit down at home for a year, and then one of my friends came and played his record for me. I told him to take me to the studio the next time he was going. That was how I became a musician. I never had the intention of being a musician."
