Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has addressed a fan’s question regarding her convincing portrayal of a ‘runs girl’ character in Mercy Aigbe’s new movie, Thinline.
The fan, identified as Damilola Made, took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask if Yvonne had personal experience as a prostitute, given how effortlessly she embodied the role.
“Abeg I get one very important question to ask @iamyvonnejegede. So you don do Ashawo before you start acting because tell me how you acted that ashawo role so perfectly?” he tweeted.
Reacting to the post, Yvonne admitted that she was initially startled when she saw her name mentioned in connection with the word “ashawo.”
“I just woke up, picked up my phone, and this is what I saw. Immediately, I saw my name and saw ‘ashawo,’ sleep cleared from my eyes. I thought, ‘I don commit again.’ Thanks for the review. Thinline is an all-round beautiful story; make it a date,” she responded with a blend of humor and professionalism.
Her witty response has garnered praise from her fans, who have admired her ability to handle the unexpected criticism with grace, all while continuing to promote the movie in a positive light.
It’s worth noting that Thinline, which features Yvonne Jegede in a major role, faced some challenges after its release, particularly when it went up against Funke Akindele’s popular show ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa.’ The public’s reaction to both projects created a bit of a stir, but Yvonne’s light-hearted and professional handling of the situation has only enhanced her reputation in the industry.
