A woman who previously accused renowned hip-hop moguls Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jay-Z of sexually assaulting her when she was just 13 years old has officially withdrawn her civil lawsuit against them.
According to court records, the lawsuit was dropped on Friday in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
A legal document filed in the case states that the accuser “hereby gives notice that the above-captioned action is voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice,” indicating that the lawsuit cannot be refiled in the future.
The lawsuit, originally filed in December 2024, accused Shawn Carter, known professionally as Jay-Z, of raping the accuser alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs at a party following the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2000.
It remains unclear whether a settlement agreement was reached between the parties, as neither the woman—whose identity remains undisclosed—nor her legal representatives have issued any public statements regarding the decision to withdraw the case.
However, billionaire rapper and business mogul Jay-Z, 55, responded to the dismissal of the lawsuit with a statement expressing relief over the case’s closure. He vehemently denied the allegations and condemned the lawsuit as being completely baseless.
“This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims,” Jay-Z stated, further describing the accusations as “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling.”
The lawsuit had sparked widespread discussions within the entertainment industry, as both Jay-Z and Diddy have faced growing scrutiny in recent years over past allegations. However, the dismissal of this case marks a legal victory for the two hip-hop icons, who have maintained their innocence throughout the proceedings.
