Popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer Anthony Victor, popularly known as Victony, has addressed the recent social media criticism surrounding his debut album, *Stubborn*.
The singer has faced criticism suggesting that the album’s commercial performance suffered due to a lack of “haters” to generate buzz through negative commentary.
In response to these claims, Victony took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to dismiss the notion as “dumb.”
He expressed his frustration with the unrealistic expectations placed on his career, emphasizing that he is not in a hurry to match the level of success achieved by his contemporaries, Rema and Asake.
Victony’s statement read:
“Lmao, Victony need more haters gotta be the dumbest shit I seen cos what’s the rush? Everyone wanna be Rema and Asake in 2 hours?”
