Nollywood actor Stephen Alajemba, also known as Uwaezuoke,, has shared his controversial views on polygamy, explaining why he believes men should marry at least three wives. Uwaezuoke, known for his outspoken opinions, recently elaborated on this topic during a conversation in an interview with Ugwumba TV, where he explained his reasoning for supporting multiple marriages.
He argues that men who marry fewer than three wives are at risk of being poisoned by their wives. According to him, polygamy is not only a way to ensure a stable household but also a safeguard against potential harm, particularly from a singular wife or even two. Alajemba shared this opinion in an effort to emphasize his belief that men should seek to marry more than one wife, with a minimum of three being his preferred number.
In the interview, actor Uwaezuoke boldly stated, “It’s a sin to marry one or two wives. But if you marry three or four, you will be free from sin. If you marry one wife your life is at risk. The safety of the director is in the hands of the security. If you marry two wives, they will conspire to poison you.” He continued, “But if you marry three or more wives, they will all be on their own and you will only be providing for them. You will be taking turns with their meals and bedrooms.”
Uwaezuoke's statement has sparked debate, with many questioning the logic behind his belief. Some may find his argument controversial, while others may support the idea of polygamy as a way to balance family dynamics and reduce risks that he believes come with fewer marriages. Regardless of opinion, Uwaezuoke's comments are sure to ignite further discussion about marriage practices in Nigerian society.
