Nollywood actor Ugezu J. Ugezu has reacted strongly after Nigerian entertainer Noble Igwe referred to Igbo men as rich but classless, among other remarks.
Noble Igwe had taken to his social media page to express his frustrations about certain behaviors exhibited by men, particularly in public settings. He shared his experiences with some Igbo men who allegedly caused disruptions during a wedding event he attended.
Igwe revealed that some wealthy Igbo men arrived late to the wedding and showed disrespect to the hosts by ignoring the table arrangements set for the occasion. He also cited instances where some of the Igbo men at the event disregarded the proper seating arrangements and opted to eat beans served on a chair instead. According to Igwe, he felt compelled to continue speaking out against what he perceives as these unruly behaviors among Igbo men until there is a positive change.
In response to Noble Igwe’s comments about Igbo men, actor Ugezu J. Ugezu expressed his dissatisfaction and questioned whether Igwe’s allegations were simply attempts to chase clout. Ugezu went further by stating that he would consult a shrine to address the claims Igwe made about the Igbo community. He emphasized that such generalizations should not be made lightly and urged Igwe to be certain that the allegations he was making were true before publicly airing them.
Ugezu wrote on his social media: “Mazi Noble Igwe, please be sure that you are not chasing clout. Be sure that all the allegations you are making against Ndigbo are true. Ifea ga abanyekwa na alusi (This thing will enter the shrine). Adi asikpo obodo asi (They don’t lie on an entire tribe). Adi esi alusi nwelu ibobo ngo”.
