Media personality, Toke Makinwa, has continued to express her dissatisfaction with 2Face for publicly announcing his divorce from Annie Idibia. Toke has repeatedly criticized the singer for choosing to bring the breakdown of their marriage to the public eye.
Earlier, Toke made a post expressing her disappointment in 2Face, stating that he should be ashamed of himself for airing their private matters online. In a new post on Monday, Toke further criticized him for the timing of the announcement, which she believes was made when Annie Idibia was already facing significant public backlash.
She responded to some Nigerians who suggested that Annie should leave the marriage if it no longer served her, making it clear that she supported the idea of moving on from an unhealthy relationship. However, her primary concern was with 2Face's decision to share their divorce at such a sensitive time.
Toke explained that 2Face’s public declaration was exacerbating the negative narrative about Annie that was circulating online. She expressed her frustration with the lack of empathy displayed by the singer, especially since he often preaches about love and compassion.
She wrote, “Nobody is asking anybody to stay in a situation that’s not serving them any purpose anymore. By all means leave if you must, but why bring this online this very moment? We know what’s going on behind closed doors, the world doesn’t know anything. It’s already been hectic with opinions flying around. A handful of people know the truth and time will tell. Timing is everything, empathy is everything. You constantly preach love. You cannot add to the narrative that’s out there when you know what is happening exactly behind closed doors.”
