Tobi Bakre, a former currency dealer at Heritage Bank and finalist of Season 3 of BBNaija, has revealed why he quit his job at the bank in 2018 to participate in the TV reality show. Speaking on the Menisms’ audiovisual podcast hosted by Olumurewa and Michael Sonariwo, Tobi explained that he found the job monotonous and was tired of doing the same thing over and over again. He said he was just 22 at the time and had always wanted to go on Big Brother Naija, so he decided to take a chance and quit his banking job to pursue his dream. Tobi also shared that after leaving the show, he didn't have a concrete plan on what he wanted to do next, but he had trusted and respected management to help him figure things out.
Regarding the financial aspect of his decision, Tobi confessed that he didn't have much money when he entered the Big Brother house. In fact, he and his friend had spent all their money the previous December on clubbing and partying. However, after leaving the show, Tobi was surprised to find out that many fans had sent him money, and he had over N800,000 in his account. He admitted to using some of the money to buy an iPhone but was also ready to work hard to build a career for himself after the show.
