During a recent interview with Television Continental (TVC), the 51-year-old songwriter shared his desire to bring back the iconic group once again. He explained that he had made efforts to include 2Baba in the project but was met with a refusal.

Blackface stated, “I just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called *The Return* and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze has a feature, but 2Baba is not on the album because he is not ready to be part of it. We already had the time to go to the studio, but they don’t want it. If somebody gives you the impression that he is not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead.”

The singer also expressed his frustration with the lack of recognition for his contributions to the industry, particularly after Kennis Music CEO, Kenny Ogunde supported his claims regarding the controversies surrounding the African Queen track.

“I am not demanding anything, just my respect. I have put in so much work in this game for the people that are even benefiting from it today, for the young ones that came after. I put in a lot of work; you can’t just take me out,” Blackface emphasized, underscoring the importance of acknowledging his efforts.

For years, Blackface and 2Baba have been locked in a public feud, which largely revolves around Blackface’s claim that he was the original writer of the hit song African Queen, a track that was made famous by 2Baba. The dispute, which first erupted in 2015, has frequently captured public attention, making headlines and continuing to stir controversy within the Nigerian music scene.

However, in October 2023, Blackface appeared to take a step towards reconciliation by extending an olive branch to 2Baba. He publicly asked for forgiveness for the past grievances between them and proposed a reunion for Plantashun Boiz in 2024. In an Instagram post, Blackface wrote, “To be or not to be? @fazealone @official2baba @blackfacenaija @plantashunboizofficial, why not? My people oya make una talk put mouth for this matter! We are on a mission for world peace and it’s not a small-time thing! Unity is strength and not division. Let’s go champs.”

Despite Blackface’s efforts to reconcile and bring the group back together, 2Baba’s absence from Blackface’s latest project suggests that the rift between the two might not yet be fully resolved. It remains unclear whether the two former bandmates will be able to mend their differences and reunite for the benefit of their loyal fans and the legacy of Plantashun Boiz.
