The speculation reportedly began after a post on the Seyi Tinubu Youth Battalion Facebook page claimed that Igboho had passed away. The post further promised additional details about the alleged circumstances of his death, causing alarm among his supporters and the public.

In response to these claims, Igboho issued a formal statement through his spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, dismissing the rumors as baseless and misleading. Koiki emphasized that the Yoruba Nation leader is alive, in good health, and spending quality time with his family. He urged the public to disregard the false reports and continue to support Igboho's cause for self-determination.

Koiki also highlighted that the rumors were likely part of a calculated attempt to tarnish Igboho’s reputation and discredit the ongoing Yoruba Nation movement. He reassured supporters that Igboho remains committed to the cause and will not be swayed by such tactics.

The statement issued on behalf of Sunday Igboho read: “We want to assure the general public and supporters of the Yoruba Nation movement that Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo Igboho is alive, well, and in high spirits. There is no truth to the rumors being spread by certain individuals and groups trying to mislead the public. This is a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image and derail the ongoing self-determination struggle.”

The statement continued: “Let it be known that our mission for the self-determination of the Yoruba people remains strong and unshaken. We call on our supporters to remain vigilant and focused on our collective goal. Do not be distracted by unfounded claims or misinformation designed to destabilize our movement.”

Supporters of Igboho and the Yoruba Nation cause have since expressed relief following the clarification, reaffirming their dedication to the movement's objectives. Meanwhile, Igboho’s team has urged the public to verify information from credible sources and to avoid spreading unsubstantiated rumors that may cause unnecessary panic or confusion.
