Nigerian singer, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, widely known as Spyro, opens up about the emotional impact of the success of fellow artists Oxlade and Fireboy.
In a conversation with renowned podcaster Taymesan, Spyro shared his past frustrations, recalling their shared journey as upcoming musicians. He expressed how the success of Oxlade and Fireboy before him left him feeling frustrated.
Spyro recounted hosting a show in 2018 where top artists like Davido and Mayorkun performed. He had anticipated that his career would take off, especially since he already had a song with them. However, to his disappointment, his breakthrough didn't happen, and witnessing others, who were once considered peers, rise above him took a toll on his morale and drive.
Despite the setbacks, Spyro reflects on the experience as a lesson in patience, believing that it was God's way of teaching him endurance in his musical journey.
