Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, has expressed his frustrations with the difficulties of being a celebrity in Lagos, stating that “Billings choke.”
The popular singer, known for his hit song "Who’s Your Guy," took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to share the challenges and pressures he faces as a celebrity living in Lagos.
In his post, Spyro described a recent incident where he received a barrage of insults from a man because he had promised to help him the following day, but couldn’t provide assistance at the time. He reflected on the pressure celebrities face when they are constantly expected to deliver, even in situations where they are unable to do so.
The singer also shared insight into the financial burden of maintaining a celebrity lifestyle, revealing that he spends a minimum of N100k each time he leaves his house and an average of N15 million annually. This amount is spread across various aspects of his life, highlighting the financial strain of maintaining his status and lifestyle.
He wrote, “If I enter restaurant, Billings go dey wait me outside, I enter church, same thing…Enter estate, same, carry phone enter online, na same same.”
He continued, “Everybody wants to take, but nobody dey give you and nobody thinks of how you are faring.”
In his message, Spyro expressed solidarity with his fellow celebrities, acknowledging the hardships they endure. He ended by saying, “S/O to every one of my colleagues out there going through this, y’all are the real MVPs and I celebrate you.”
