Nigerian singer Skales has taken to social media to publicly vent his frustrations over what he describes as relentless trolling and harassment from fans of the renowned Afrobeat superstar, Wizkid. The singer expressed his disappointment and alleged that the toxic behaviour of Wizkid’s fanbase, popularly known as “Wizkid FC,” has been deeply affecting him on a personal level.
In a series of posts on the X platform, Skales revealed that he has been subjected to constant online attacks that he finds increasingly difficult to ignore. While he admitted to striving for peace and focusing on his music career, he stressed that his patience is being tested. According to Skales, the trolling has reached a point where he feels compelled to speak out.
Skales shared his perspective, writing, “Now if I vex start to dey rant, them go say na me dey look for trouble. I’m human. How do you want me to ignore this, and for how long? You can love your Wiz and let me be. I don’t want anything from him. I love my life and pace, and I’m doing amazing.” The statement reflects his struggle to balance maintaining his composure while dealing with what he describes as an ongoing campaign of negativity from the fanbase.
The singer went on to make a bold accusation, suggesting that Wizkid might be aware of his fanbase’s toxic actions and could even be indirectly encouraging them. “To think that he has seen this and enjoys it and probably bankrolls these people… No wahala! I can only keep my cool for some time. Make I push my show first. I want peace, but war is an option too,” he added, hinting at the potential for a more aggressive response if the harassment continues.
Skales emphasized the need for boundaries and urged Wizkid’s fans to let him live in peace, warning of a potential fallout if the toxic behaviour persists. He reiterated his desire to remain focused on his career but left the door open for confrontation if necessary.
This is not the first time Wizkid FC has come under fire for their conduct. Notably, fellow singer Tiwa Savage had previously called out the fanbase for their negative online behaviour. This recurring issue has sparked conversations about the responsibility of artists in moderating their fan communities and addressing toxicity within their following.
