The mother of Nigerian dancer and social media influencer, Idowu Smart Emmanuel, popularly known as Lil Smart, has broken down in tears as she pleads for his immediate release following his recent arrest.
The emotional appeal comes after Lil Smart’s arrest on January 28th, over allegations of cyberbullying and making serious accusations against his former record label boss, Naira Marley.
Lil Smart had previously accused Naira Marley and his associates of kidnapping, assaulting, and robbing him of $300. He also alleged that the controversial singer had bribed police officers in Lagos to evade justice and implicated him in a credit card fraud scheme.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Lil Smart later issued a written statement retracting all his claims. He admitted that his allegations were false and lacked any substantial evidence.
In a heartbreaking video that surfaced online, Lil Smart’s mother was seen weeping bitterly as she lamented the unjust detention of her son. The distressed mother expressed her helplessness, stating that she had no influential connections to secure his freedom.
“I am the biological mother of Lil Smart, who was arrested on the 28th. I don’t have anybody but God. Please help me; I am a single mother, and I don’t know anyone who can help. Please, I beg you,” she cried out in Yoruba.
The video has since gone viral, sparking mixed reactions from social media users, with many calling for Lil Smart’s release while others question the circumstances surrounding his retracted allegations.
