British singer, Natalie Okri has made a strong assertion about human hair wigs and extensions, claiming that they are diabolical and bring bad luck.
The singer shared her thoughts in a recent discussion where she explained why she personally stopped wearing wigs and other hair extensions. She argued that many of these hairpieces originate from ritual sacrifices in some Asian cultures.
According to Natalie Okri, in several parts of Asia, women voluntarily cut off their hair and offer it in temples as a form of spiritual purification. They believe that by sacrificing their hair, they are shedding bad luck, misfortune, and poverty, allowing them to start fresh.
She further revealed that these temple-donated hairs are later collected and sold to international markets, including African and non-African countries, where they are used to make wigs and extensions.
Natalie emphasized that individuals who wear such wigs may unknowingly be carrying the negative energy, bad luck, and misfortunes of the original donors.
“There are three major reasons why I stopped wearing wigs and human hair extensions,” she stated. “Firstly, some human hairs are sacrificed to demons, deities, and other spiritual entities that we may not be aware of. Secondly, women in certain countries, especially in Asia, believe their gods will cleanse them of bad luck and poverty when they sacrifice their hair in temples. Lastly, the temple workers take these hairs, process them, and sell them to the global market through platforms like Ali Baba, Ali Express, and other big vendors.”
She warned that black women who unknowingly purchase and wear these wigs might be putting themselves at spiritual risk. “We are unknowingly wearing someone else’s bad luck on our heads,” she added.
“Even if you do not believe in their gods, as a Christian, this contradicts my faith because such sacrifices are made to deities, which we see as demons.”
