A fire incident occurred on Wednesday night at the premises of Radio Nigeria, situated at Plot No. 35, Ikoyi Road, Ikoyi, Lagos State. The blaze caused significant damage to the facility.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Director, Margaret Adeseye, on Wednesday evening. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time, but fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

The statement revealed that the emergency agency was alerted to the situation at approximately 5:30 pm. In response, firefighters from Dolphin and Ebute Elefun Fire Stations were promptly dispatched to the scene as the first responders.

Upon their arrival, the responders encountered a fully developed fire that had spread due to the combustible nature of the materials in the studio section of the station. The blaze posed a significant challenge, given the type of substances involved.

Director Margaret Adeseye reassured the public that the joint efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Federal Fire Service, and other Emergency Responders, including the Nigerian Police, successfully brought the situation under control. She added that the fire was contained to the studio section of the station, where it is believed to have originated, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the building.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge.
