Controversial street-hop singer Portable has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, following his arraignment on multiple charges related to assault and public misconduct in Ogun State.

The embattled singer was taken into police custody after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command. He later surrendered himself at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, from where he was transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters for further questioning and legal processing.

Portable was formally charged with conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause harm. The charges stem from an altercation involving him and a group of associates who allegedly attacked some government officials during an enforcement exercise.

During the court session, Portable's lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for bail, arguing that the singer was now remorseful and had learned valuable lessons from the ordeal. The defense emphasized that Portable was willing to comply with any conditions set by the court to secure his temporary release.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate O. L. Oke granted Portable bail in the sum of N2 million. As part of the bail conditions, the singer was required to provide one surety of equal financial standing, ensuring compliance with court directives ahead of further hearings.

The case has been officially adjourned to March 5 for further proceedings. Meanwhile, Portable's legal team has assured the court of his commitment to honoring the court’s directives and participating fully in the judicial process.

In a related development, nine of Portable’s associates were also brought before the magistrate to face similar charges. The court will determine their legal fate as investigations continue into the allegations surrounding the incident.
