Police have rearrested controversial Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington at his show in Owerri, Imo State, following his return to Nigeria from the United States.
He's initial arrest stemmed from his comments about Nigerian singer Burna Boy, which stirred a lot of controversy. The remarks led to his detention, though he was later released. After his release, Speed Darlington had relocated back to the United States, where he continued making statements about Burna Boy, even retracting the apology he had initially offered to the singer.
Reports from his lawyer, Adeyanju Deji, indicate that Speed Darlington was recently apprehended once again, this time in Owerri, Imo State. It was gathered that the police picked him up while he was performing at a show in the city.
Deji Adeyanju, Speed Darlington’s lawyer, broke the news on social media, writing, "BREAKING: Our client Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
