Pete Edochie, a renowned figure in Nollywood, has shared a harrowing incident involving a serious accident that nearly claimed his life due to excessive drinking.
During an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Pete Edochie recounted a traumatic car accident that took place in 1977. He explained how he collided with a stationary trailer while driving, a consequence of his binge drinking. Although the collision could have been fatal, he credited divine intervention for sparing his life.

Pete Edochie went on to share the details of the accident, revealing that he fell asleep at the wheel as he was leaving Nsukka. This caused him to collide with a stationary trailer and ultimately crash into nearby bushes.
Furthermore, Pete Edochie disclosed that he had encountered other life-threatening situations in the past, including a previous brush with death and an incident where he was kidnapped.
“I drove my car under a truck. I will say the truth, perhaps I had too much to drink. On the 14th day of March 1977, I drove under a stationary trailer in the night and by the grace of God I came out of it.
There was a time I was coming out of Nsukka and I slept on the wheel. I ran into a trailer and it knocked me into the bush. Like I said I have had some close shave but I thank God I am still alive. I have been kidnapped once too.”
