Former City of David Parish pastor under the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Idowu Iluyomade, has opened a new church in Lagos, marking a significant step in his ministry journey after his suspension by RCCG. Iluyomade, who had served as the senior pastor at the City of David Parish, decided to venture into starting a fresh ministry following his controversial suspension by the church’s board in the previous year.
It was gathered that the new ministry, Family Fellowship, is located in the heart of Victoria Island, Lagos. This new church is seen as a significant move for Iluyomade as he embarks on this new chapter, establishing a new community for believers.
Iluyomade’s resignation from RCCG came after a suspension last year, which was linked to his extravagant celebration of his wife’s 60th birthday. The lavish event sparked widespread criticism, particularly because it was held shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe in a helicopter crash in the United States. Many saw the timing as insensitive and inappropriate, which led to his suspension and eventual departure from RCCG.
Despite the controversy surrounding his exit from RCCG, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade’s new church, Family Fellowship, held its inaugural service on Sunday, 19 January. The service marked the official commencement of this new chapter in his life and ministry, signaling the beginning of a new spiritual journey for him and his congregation.
