Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), has successfully secured his release from Police custody.
The renowned Nigerian pastor was released on Tuesday evening after spending some time in detention over an alleged involvement in a N1.5 billion fraud.
As reported by Gistreel, Pastor Idowu was arrested by officials from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in connection with the fraud investigation. The arrest had raised significant public attention due to the pastor's prominent position in the Nigerian Christian community. His release came after mounting pressure from influential figures, including powerful pastors in the country and key forces within the Aso Rock Villa, which contributed to his release. These influential individuals are believed to have lobbied on his behalf, urging authorities to reconsider the detention.
A high-ranking Police source confirmed the release, stating, “Pastor Bolaji was released late into the evening after interventions from prominent pastors and individuals close to President Tinubu in Aso Villa. He has been instructed to return the money traced to his account within two weeks.”
