Late Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi, has made serious accusations against her father-in-law, Mr. Joseph Aloba, claiming that he has deliberately delayed the DNA test that would resolve the paternity issue of her son, Liam. The allegations were brought to light through a statement from the legal team of Mohbad’s widow, Salawu Akingbolu Chambers. According to the legal team, Mr. Aloba rejected the medical facilities proposed by Omowunmi for the paternity test.
The letter from the chambers outlined the ongoing dispute between the two parties. It mentioned that Omowunmi initially proposed the use of UCH Ibadan for the test, but Mr. Aloba objected to this choice. Additionally, he rejected the suggestion to use Lagoon Hospitals, which Omowunmi had also recommended. In an effort to resolve the matter, Omowunmi put forward alternative options, including Eko Hospital and Reddington Hospital. However, she claimed that Mr. Aloba failed to respond to these suggestions.
The legal team expressed their surprise when, instead of addressing the matter directly, Mr. Aloba’s representative, Mr. Taiwo Odumosu, made comments on social media suggesting that Omowunmi was not willing to proceed with the DNA test. The letter clarified that Omowunmi had always been ready and willing to cooperate, and that any insinuation otherwise was a misrepresentation. The letter further demanded an apology for the alleged misrepresentation on social media, emphasizing the need for respect and professionalism throughout the process.
Omowunmi also accused Mohbad’s father of publicly portraying her son as a “bastard” on social media, which she described as deeply hurtful and damaging. She stated that she would bring the matter to court to address these accusations.
In response to these allegations, Aloba’s former legal team, Hillceetee Partners, issued a statement dated January 11, 2025, signed by Emmanuel Oroko. In the response, Hillceetee Partners denied the allegations of misrepresentation on social media. They clarified that Mr. Odumosu had never implied that Omowunmi was unwilling to cooperate with the DNA test. Instead, he had mentioned that the hospitals had not yet confirmed their readiness to conduct the test. The statement also clarified that Mr. Odumosu had the utmost respect for both law firms involved in the case and would never disrespect Omowunmi or her legal team.
Despite the legal clarifications, the situation remains tense, and both parties appear to be deeply entrenched in their positions. The ongoing dispute over the paternity test has led to public and legal exchanges that are likely to continue until the matter is resolved in court.
