Popular Nigerian skit maker and singer, Oluwa Dolarz, has responded to criticism from netizens who have been dragging him over a controversial music video he made about Muslim fasting.
The online comedian had recently released a music video that depicted him imitating Muslim prayers and referencing fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.
The content of the video, which appeared to highlight the struggles and temptations of fasting, did not sit well with some Muslim faithfuls, who found his portrayal of their religious practice disrespectful.
As a result, backlash ensued, with many Muslims criticizing Oluwa Dolarz for what they perceived as an insensitive representation of their faith. They took to social media to call him out, urging him to respect religious boundaries in his content.
In response to the outrage, Oluwa Dolarz addressed the situation, expressing his opinion that many of the people criticizing him do not fully understand their religion and simply follow the rules blindly.
He shared a post on his social media platform, stating:
“Some Muslims are criticizing me because of the post I made.
It’s unfortunate, but it seems that many Muslims don‘t truly understand their religion; they just follow the rules blindly.”
