A Nigerian man has sparked controversy by labeling social media personality VeryDarkMan a “fraud boy,” accusing him of deceit and playing the victim amid a recent scandal involving his NGO.
The allegations emerged from a post shared on the man’s page via X (formerly Twitter), where he criticized VeryDarkMan for his inconsistent claims regarding an alleged hacking incident.

Initially, VeryDarkMan posted a video on his social media platform claiming that ₦180 million had been stolen from his NGO’s account by hackers, with the alleged hack reportedly traced to Jos.
However, days later, VeryDarkMan shocked his followers by admitting that the hacking claim was false and that the incident was merely a joke or, in his words, “cruise.”
In response to these developments, the man dismissed VeryDarkMan’s initial claims, asserting that the funds were never stolen and accusing him of seeking public sympathy.
The exchange between the two escalated when VeryDarkMan released another video addressing the criticism and speaking extensively about the accusations leveled against him. In his video, he attempted to clarify his actions and defend his reputation.
Reacting to the new video, the man doubled down on his accusations, stating: “I am still not sure why this fraud boy is crying. He said money was stolen. Nigerians said it’s a lie and advised him he is damaging his reputation. Why is he shouting like the victim?”
As the back-and-forth unfolded on social media, the controversy quickly gained traction online, with many Nigerians flocking to the comments section to share their opinions and weigh in on the drama.
See some reactions below:
@ditocang: “The guy is just confused. I watched a clip where he said he has been borrowing money to do what he does. Somewhere he now feels entitled to the money and plans to take it except for the backlash. Nigerians seem irredeemable.”
@Awele60930222: “Isn’t it possible that @Coolverydarkma planned to siphon the 180M without accounting for it but only claimed it was a prank when the heat from Nigerians became too much?”
@Franko_Nero2010: “He wanted to dagbo the money but what he got was more than what he expected, he knew that there will be an outcry but he wasn’t expecting this kind. His shot hit bar.”
@obasitwins: “Fraud? He didn’t say he stole the money, why is the heat on him?”
@Nanaezze: “He was simply caught off guard. And failing to admit. Reputation is now ground zero for him.”
@MoRalph01: “When he decides to deal with you, hope you won’t lock your account, send your wife to show up, and as well send people to beg him like you did when Dipo wanted to deal with you.”
@Sureboyoffici: “As an elder, you should know when to rest now. One question 🙋♂️: How important are you to Nigerians?”
@kenechchukwu23: “Any time he is caught, that is when he will start praising the government just to get a safe landing. The last actions and statements he made in that recorded tape really showed me he can’t be trusted. These people are being used by the corrupt government system to distract Nigerians.”
