Barely 24 hours after fast-rising singer, Awosika Olayemi Josiah, popularly known as Fido, released a statement declaring that no one discovered him except himself, a chat has surfaced online contradicting his claim and stirring massive reactions on social media.
The singer had taken to his page on the popular social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to make the bold declaration regarding his journey to stardom.
In his words, Fido insisted that no one could lay claim to discovering him, stressing that only God discovered him and played a role in his rise. He further stated that anyone claiming otherwise was being deceitful and had no true contributions to his success.
His statement read: “Nobody discovered me, na me discover myself. Anywhere you see say person talk say na dem discover me, na scam oo. Na God discover me, not man. No let them scam you oooooo. #OnlyGod is the key.”
However, less than 24 hours after his post, several online users, including those who had worked closely with the singer, began disputing Fido’s claims with detailed evidence.
Screenshots of private conversations surfaced online, revealing counterclaims from individuals who alleged they played a significant role in Fido’s musical journey and development.
One of the messages read: “Inner Circle discovered you, gave you a name, and built your brand. I personally convinced Bimbo to come on board. We pushed ‘Awolowo’ together in Bariga. Now you dare say we never invested in you? You talk about investors like you brought them yourself — investors who actually invested in the team.”
The person continued: “This guy claimed we took his money and didn’t spend on ‘Mr Lover’ marketing. He said we activated an option without his knowledge, yet baba was expecting an advance. How do you expect an advance without activating the option?”
“Honestly, I’m baffled how someone can be making progress yet still be haunted by the past. It’s wild. You just signed a major deal with Empire — congrats! But instead of rehashing old drama, focus on the future.”
“Fido, you have so much ahead of you. Channel your energy into that. All this back-and-forth feels unnecessary — unless, of course, it’s just a strategy to create buzz for your next release.”
“Inner Circle and Cidar played a huge role in shaping who you are today, Fido, and we’re still building on that foundation. Dxtiny and Kunmie are already proving that. Focus on greatness — there’s more to life than chasing attention and fame.”
As the screenshots continued to circulate, fans and industry insiders took to social media to share their opinions on the unfolding drama, with some siding with Fido while others questioned his recent claims.
The controversy has now sparked intense discussions about the role of mentorship, teamwork, and recognition in the music industry, as many argue that success is often the result of multiple people working behind the scenes.
While Fido has yet to respond to the leaked chats, many are eagerly waiting to see if he will address the claims made against him or choose to focus on his music career moving forward.
