Big Brother Naija Season 8 winner, Kellyrae, has broken his silence following the ongoing controversy surrounding his N100 million grand prize win, addressing critics who argue that he did not deserve the title and calling them “not wise.”
Since Kellyrae’s victory, several fans and former housemates, including contestant Shaun, have taken to social media and interviews to voice their belief that Kellyrae’s contributions during the show were insufficient to justify his win. Some even alleged that his gameplay lacked the charisma and effort others displayed throughout the season.
In a candid interview on a podcast hosted by BBNaija alum Adekunle Olopade, Kellyrae opened up about the backlash and also addressed his strained relationship with fellow contestant Onyeka. According to him, although he and Onyeka are not on good terms, he holds no resentment toward her and refuses to discredit her abilities.
“Even though Onyeka is not on good terms with my wife, Kassia, she is a very talented person. Just because we are not on good terms doesn’t mean I should discredit her,” Kellyrae remarked, emphasizing that he respects her contributions to the show.
Kellyrae also expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of sportsmanship among his colleagues. He explained that their assumptions about his worthiness of the prize reflect poorly on them. “So, I don’t know what some of my colleagues saw in me in the house that made them feel they were more deserving of the prize money than my wife and I. It means you are actually a dull person. You are not wise,” he added with a note of finality.
His candid remarks have sparked heated discussions online, with fans and critics alike weighing in. While some supporters applauded Kellyrae for his confidence and refusal to bow to external pressures, others debated the fairness of his win and whether his performance during the show merited the grand prize.
Despite the ongoing drama, Kellyrae remains unwavering in defending his victory, reiterating that his success on the show is a testament to the connection he built with fans and the authenticity he brought to the game. As conversations continue to swirl, one thing is clear: Kellyrae’s win will remain a hot topic among BBNaija enthusiasts for months to come.
