Veteran Nollywood actor Jude Chukwuka has spoken out about a shocking incident in which he was attacked by some unknown men while on a movie set in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The assault, he revealed, was linked to the tragic death of the late singer Mohbad.
According to the actor, the group of young men confronted him under the mistaken belief that he was Naira Marley’s father. This false assumption led them to accuse him of being responsible for Mohbad’s untimely passing.
Chukwuka recounted the harrowing experience during an interview with Seun Oloketuyi on his YouTube page. He explained that the assailants were convinced that Naira Marley—whom they erroneously thought was his son—was behind the late singer’s demise. The attackers, driven by rage and misinformation, saw him as a direct target for retribution.
He further elaborated on the false accusations against Naira Marley, stating that the situation surrounding Mohbad’s death had been turned into a personal attack on the musician’s reputation. Chukwuka expressed his dismay that some individuals were taking advantage of the controversy to gain public attention and push personal agendas.
Recounting the tense moment, he said: “I understood from the beginning that blaming Naira Marley for Mohbad’s death was an attack on his personality.”
He continued: “Because it was finally their chance, some people wanted to take advantage of the situation to become famous. Claiming that my son was responsible for Mohbad’s death, a group of men attacked me on a film set.”
Chukwuka made it clear to his attackers that he had no familial ties to Naira Marley, firmly stating, “I am not the father of Naira Marley.” He went on to clarify, “I let them know that my home is in Delta State, while he is from Abeokuta.”
