Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iheme Nancy has sparked mixed reactions across social media after delivering a direct and blunt response to a 40-year-old admirer who reached out to her. The situation unfolded during an Instagram Q&A session, where the admirer, a 40-year-old man, expressed his interest in the actress, writing, “I will need u to be my woman I am a 40 yr old guy.”
In a firm response, Iheme quickly dismissed his proposal, responding, “You can’t afford me… Move to the next person.” This comment from Iheme was met with a combination of support and backlash from social media users, with some criticising her for appearing to put a "price tag" on herself. One user, Deacon Famous, took to the comments, stating, “Coming from a lady in her 30s. A commodity and more.”
Despite the criticism, Iheme remained unapologetic and took to social media to defend her statement. In a lengthy post, she clarified that her comment was based on her personal observations of the admirer’s situation. She wrote, “Listen, 40 years is a very sweet age for marriage, but don’t get me wrong when I said you can’t afford me. I know what I saw. You needed to see this 40-year-old person asking me to marry him. I don’t understand why I should settle for less… Holy Ghost fire, I will never settle for less!”
The actress further elaborated, explaining that her decision not to entertain the man’s request was rooted in what she described as "red flags" she noticed during their interaction. She added, “I said what I said… comments don’t get to me because I don’t care. 40 years with RED FLAGS everywhere. Oga, you can’t afford me, period.”
