Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has recently shared his perspective on cannabis, stating that he does not consider it a hard drug.
In an appearance on The Morning Hustle podcast, Davido addressed the criticisms surrounding his stance on drug abuse while being open about his personal use of cannabis. His comments came in response to concerns regarding his involvement in the fight against drug addiction, despite his public use of cannabis.
The singer also shared the initiatives he is supporting through his foundation, explaining that he plans to donate funds to orphanages and organizations focused on combating drug abuse, especially among young people.
Davido stated, “This year, I’m donating to the fight against drug abuse among youths. I don’t count weed as a hard drug. Some people are saying I smoke weed, but I don’t count weed as a drug.” He emphasized his belief that while his use of cannabis is known, it should not be seen in the same light as other substances that cause severe addiction and harm.
Additionally, Davido highlighted the rising concern around addiction, noting, “A lot of people have been going through a lot recently. Drug addiction is becoming rampant. So I want to donate to that cause to help them quit.” His dedication to raising awareness and offering support shows his desire to help those struggling with substance abuse issues, especially in the younger generation.
