In her recent Instagram post, Sarah Martins reflected on her past relationship, where she made considerable sacrifices, devoting a substantial amount of her income to her then-partner. She painfully recounted how her ex-boyfriend exploited her support and used her hard-earned money to fund another woman’s business without her knowledge.
According to Sarah Martins, this heart-wrenching experience left her disillusioned and has made her far more cautious about showing kindness and investing deeply in romantic relationships. She now approaches love with a guarded heart, wary of letting herself be taken advantage of again.
In her post, Sarah Martins emphasized her stance that while she is willing to support her partner, it is important that her support is reciprocated. She shared that her partner's loyalty and contributions should justify her level of commitment and generosity.
In a poignant section of her post, she wrote, “There was a time I gave my ex 50% of my monthly salary for 6 months, and the werey was giving the money to another woman 🤦🏻♀️.”
She further elaborated, “He even funded her business from my sweat, and the lady married someone else months after he finished setting up her business 😂.”
Continuing her story, Sarah described how the experience changed her perspective, saying, “I’m a lover girl and I go hard for people I love, but ever since them show me shege on top my kind heart, I no dey give man shishi!”
With conviction, she added, “With my full chest, I AM CURRENTLY A GOLD DIGGER. I will support my man the best way I can, but my man must have supported me to a level that will warrant me to reciprocate his support in his own time of need.”
