Self-acclaimed financial advisor, GheGhe, has joined the ongoing controversy involving Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy and Lagos-based socialite Sophia Egbueje, and has now pledged to take legal action against the singer. GheGhe announced his decision to sue Burna Boy amid the heated back-and-forth that started after a leaked audio surfaced, with Sophia accusing Burna Boy of not keeping his promise to buy her a Lamborghini in exchange for a romantic relationship.
In the wake of this, Burna Boy responded by releasing a freestyle that mocked Sophia Egbueje, along with announcing his arrival in Kenya for a music performance. The freestyle, which became the focal point of much public attention, saw Burna Boy perform the track on stage in front of a large crowd. During the performance, he encouraged the audience to respond with the phrase “Opueh,” a reference to GheGhe’s recently released song.
The song “Opueh” by GheGhe had garnered attention previously due to the social media altercation it sparked, particularly a public dispute between GheGhe and another figure, Saidaboj. Following this, GheGhe used his platform to openly express his frustration with Burna Boy, especially after the freestyle made waves. In a new video posted online, GheGhe made it clear that he intends to sue Burna Boy for one billion naira, claiming that his song “Opueh” is copyrighted and that Burna Boy’s actions had infringed upon this trademarked work.
In the video, GheGhe voiced his confidence in pursuing the matter legally, stating, “Burna Boy doesn’t know the trouble he’s gotten himself into. ‘Opueh’ is trademarked.” He went on to suggest that Burna Boy’s mockery of his work was not only disrespectful but legally actionable, as he confirmed that the song is officially protected under copyright law. GheGhe’s decision to take Burna Boy to court has become a significant talking point in the entertainment world, with many fans and critics anticipating the next steps in this highly publicized legal battle.
