Georgina Onuoha, a notable Nollywood actress, expressed her satisfaction at the sentencing of former member of Nigeria’s Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice. A UK court found them guilty of human trafficking and organ trafficking, and sentenced them to 9 years and 4 years in prison, respectively.

Reacting to the reports of their sentencing, Georgina Onuoha emphasized how ‘it serves them right’ for abusing power. She also addressed Nigerian doctors, nurses, and caregivers, warning them not to sacrifice their licenses for anyone, particularly Nigerian politicians who neglect the country's healthcare system and then rush overseas to receive treatment from the same Nigerian clinicians they treat poorly back home.

Georgina expressed her hope that the ex-senator's imprisonment would be extended. She revealed that the same man had been given millions, if not billions, to build hospitals in his state, but instead embezzled the funds. She also wished the couple's daughter well and good health, stating that if she had been better advised, she might have made a different choice. Georgina advised her to speak up and ask for help, as someone somewhere would have been willing to help her out. She concluded by wishing the young woman the best of luck and praying for God to send her help and healing.

Georgina Onuoha on the sentencing of Ekweremadu, wife

“And let the choir say Amen. Serves them right. Do not take advantage of anyone because you are in a place of power.

Dear Nigerian doctors, nurses and caregivers, do not sacrifice your licenses for anyone let alone Nigerian politicians who deliberately neglect our health care system back home but can rush overseas to be treated by the same Nigerians clinicians they treat poorly back home.

As for the ex senator I hope they can extend his imprisonment. This same man was given millions if not billions to build hospitals back home in his state, he embezzled it. As for their daughter, I wish her well and good health. If she was better advised I’m sure she would have made a different choice.

If you speak up and ask for help, I’m sure someone somewhere would have helped her out. Best of luck young woman and I pray God send you help and healing.”
