Self-styled financial expert, Geh Geh, has stirred controversy online after advising men against sending women to school. Instead, he suggested that it would be wiser for men to buy a keke (tricycle) for the woman’s father, enabling him to fund her education.
Geh Geh made this assertion during a recent episode of the popular podcast, Honest Bunch, where he shared his unconventional financial advice. According to him, training a woman in school is a poor investment for men because there is a possibility that she may later leave the relationship, rendering all the financial efforts futile.
He elaborated further, saying that relationships, in the view of many Nigerian women, are often treated as a form of employment, with men expected to shoulder all financial responsibilities. Geh Geh opined that instead of funding a woman’s education, a man should focus on empowering her family to cater to her needs, using the example of buying her father a tricycle.
The statements sparked widespread reactions online, with many taking to social media to either criticize or support Geh Geh’s controversial perspective. Critics, however, argued that such views are archaic and detrimental to the progress of women in society.
