A struggling Nigerian father has taken to social media to cry out for help after his five children were forced to drop out of school due to financial hardship, capturing the sympathy of many online.
The distressed father, who had exhausted all means to secure funds for his children's education, made a desperate appeal on X (formerly Twitter), tagging prominent personalities in hopes of receiving assistance.
“Universe, I’m reaching out directly on behalf of my innocent children (plus my first son, who isn’t in this picture). They have dropped out of school this term and need an education,” he wrote. “I’ve tried my best, but like many others, my purchasing power has been stripped away. 🙏🙏🙏”
His heartfelt plea quickly gained traction, drawing the attention of renowned chess champion and humanitarian, Tunde Onakoya.
In a remarkable show of kindness, Tunde Onakoya responded publicly, pledging to fully sponsor the education of all five children until they graduate from university. He also revealed that he had made a financial donation to the family to provide immediate relief.
His response read:
