Former Nigerian footballer, Emmanuel Emenike, has weighed in on the recent demolition of houses constructed in waterway areas of the Ikota region in Lagos state. Disturbing videos capturing the destruction of these luxurious mansions surfaced online during the weekend, eliciting emotions from residents who lost their cherished homes.
The Lagos state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources engaged with the affected residents and made it clear that they had been provided with ample time to evacuate the buildings. However, many refused to comply with the evacuation orders.
In response to the distressing incident, Emmanuel Emenike took to his Instagram platform to express his concerns. He emphasized that Igbo people in Lagos are in a challenging situation and urged them to consider repatriating their investments to the South East of Nigeria. Emenike's message underscored the need for Igbo individuals to explore opportunities in states like Abia, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi, where they can feel more secure about their investments.
Emenike expressed his frustration with the situation, stating,
“The sadness is too much after getting approval from the same Lagos State Government. This is pure wickedness.
“Igbos are in trouble.
“Bring your investment back home my people. We have Abia State, Imo State, Anambra State, Enugu State, and Ebonyi State.”
