This heartfelt testimony from Dayo Amusa follows the announcement of the birth of her first child, a 41-year-old boy, born in the United States on November 18, 2024. She took to her page to recount the struggles she endured, from the miscarriage losses to the medical challenges that followed, showing her resilience and unwavering faith in God. Dayo’s experience also highlights the complexities of reproductive health, as she was diagnosed with uterine myomatosis in 2015 and faced constant complications, including debilitating menstrual pain. Despite doctors’ recommendations to remove her womb, Dayo chose to fight for her dream of motherhood, eventually undergoing surgery to remove the tumors instead of opting for a hysterectomy.

Dayo Amusa shared her thoughts, saying, “I never thought I would get to this moment but GOD knew. For as long as I can remember I knew I wanted to be a complete ideal woman (a wife and mom).” In her post, she reflects on how, in 2015, after having suffered three miscarriages, she was diagnosed with uterine myomatosis. This condition led some doctors to suggest that she should have her womb removed due to complications and painful monthly cycles. However, she bravely rejected that option, seeking alternative treatments and medications to manage her condition. “I decided to fight and reject that option,” she explained. Dayo then recounts how she was advised by her uncle’s wife to seek medical treatment in the UK, where she underwent surgery to remove the tumor via TCRE Laparoscopy dye ovarian drilling procedure on February 14, 2015. She admitted she was afraid of having open surgery but was determined to proceed with the less invasive option for her health and future chances of motherhood.

In 2016, after undergoing surgery, Dayo Amusa and her then-partner decided to try for a baby again, but complications arose. She learned that one of her fallopian tubes was damaged, making it difficult for her to conceive naturally. Adding to her pain, her partner was involved with another woman, who eventually gave birth to a baby boy. Dayo's relationship eventually ended, as she went through more emotional pain and heartbreak. “After so many ups and downs, back and forth, na so the whole thing ended (Story for another day),” she wrote, reflecting on this challenging period in her life.

In 2019, Dayo Amusa and her partner tried IVF, but all the attempts were unsuccessful. She wrote about how her then-partner was becoming increasingly impatient, as he was over 40 years old and wanted a child urgently. Despite her struggle, he suggested having a child with someone else while she waited for her own miracle baby. Unable to accept this, Dayo’s relationship with him ended, and he soon had a child with another woman. This event led to deep frustration and sadness for Dayo, who withdrew from everything and distanced herself from family and friends. “I became frustrated and very sad. I withdrew and isolated myself, I lost my purpose and lost interest in almost everything that matters to me, even distancing myself from my family and friends,” she confessed.

During this time, Dayo’s career also suffered as she fell into a depression. She admitted to losing focus and interest in her work, retreating into herself. But through all the turmoil, her mother remained a constant source of support, encouraging her to leave Nigeria and start fresh in a new environment. Her mother even bought her a return ticket to the United States when Dayo was financially struggling and needed a change of scene. After much persuasion, Dayo finally accepted her mother’s advice and moved abroad in 2021. That decision, as she explains, was the turning point in her life and the beginning of her new journey. “That was when the story changed,” she said, looking back on her life transformation after the move.
