Dapper Music & Entertainment has issued a formal response to the allegations raised following the departure of Shallipopi, whose real name is Crown Uzama, from the record label.
The response comes after Shallipopi announced his exit from the label and accused Dapper Music of several issues, including distrust, mismanagement of funds, and abuse of artist’s rights.
In a detailed press release shared on Instagram, Dapper Music emphasized its ongoing commitment to transparency, fairness, and integrity in all of its business dealings, while also addressing the specific allegations made by Shallipopi. The label made it clear that it had always acted in the best interests of the artist, and it was open to providing further clarification on the matter.
According to the label, following Shallipopi’s success with his first album, he was given the opportunity to renegotiate his contract. This renegotiation was carried out with full legal representation, and new terms were agreed upon on October 28, 2024. These new terms allowed Shallipopi the freedom to explore other opportunities while still maintaining a mutually beneficial partnership with Dapper Music.
In response to the accusations of financial mismanagement, Dapper Music expressed surprise, stating that they had provided Shallipopi with clear financial records and that the label was fully cooperating with the auditors engaged by Shallipopi’s team to ensure full transparency.
Additionally, the label addressed allegations regarding another artist, Muyeez, who was said to have signed a contract while still a minor. Dapper Music clarified that Muyeez’s contract was signed by his legal guardian, and all procedures were carried out in accordance with the law, with the agreement witnessed appropriately.
