Controversial Nigerian singer and songwriter, Dammy Krane, has put an end to the widespread rumors of a N180 million fraud involving popular critic and social commentator, Verydarkman (VDM).
The allegations, which gained significant traction on social media, initially stemmed from a video released by VDM claiming that the website of his NGO had been hacked. According to VDM, the cyberattack resulted in the loss of millions of naira in donations meant for various charitable projects.
In a surprising turn of events, Dammy Krane took to Instagram to share a video featuring himself and VDM, revealing that the entire saga was a prank.
The singer captioned the post, “It was a prank. VDM is renovating a school in Jos.”
In the video, the singer further teased, “Una no expect am abi?”
The revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with some users expressing relief that no actual fraud occurred, while others criticized the duo for making light of such a serious topic.
The initial claims of a cyber attack on the NGO had elicited widespread outrage, with many speculating about seeing the scheme from a mile away. However, the prank announcement has shifted the narrative, leading some to question the appropriateness of the stunt.
VDM’s alleged use of the funds for renovating a school in Jos has drawn praise, as it aligns with his commitment to humanitarian efforts.
