Hellen Ati, the alleged baby mama of popular Nigerian socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest, has been hospitalized after reportedly battling severe depression and experiencing suicidal thoughts.
This development was shared by her lawyer and close friend, who took to social media to shed light on Hellen’s deteriorating mental health. The post also highlighted the ongoing paternity dispute involving her son, Pascal Okechukwu, and the toll it has taken on her emotional and psychological well-being.
In an emotional Instagram post dated January 26, 2025, Hellen’s lawyer shared a video of her receiving treatment in the hospital. The post was accompanied by a heartfelt caption that detailed the alleged mental and emotional abuse Hellen has endured over the past few years.
According to the lawyer, Hellen’s struggles are rooted in Cubana Chief Priest’s refusal to acknowledge their child, coupled with relentless harassment from the public and online communities. These factors have reportedly plunged her into a state of despair.
Hellen’s attempted suicide
“Hello everyone, as someone who values transparency, I feel compelled to share this video on January 26, 2025. Cubana Chief Priest must be celebrating now, as he has driven @hellen_ati to depression and suicidal thoughts. My heart aches for her son, Pascal Okechukwu, who needs his mother now more than ever.
“This is not the first time I’ve been forced to search for Hellen in distressing circumstances. This marks the third time she has attempted to end her life. Last year, I received a call saying she intended to jump from the fourth floor with her baby. 🤲🤲
“I’m deeply concerned about this pattern. Hellen is battling depression and mental torture due to the mistreatment from Chief Priest, both online and offline. She constantly mentions her late mother, who she believes is calling her to a place of peace and happiness. This situation seems to have taken a spiritual dimension as well.
“I feel utterly powerless to help her, but I cannot stand idly by as she goes through this ordeal.”
The lawyer’s plea to Cubana Chief Priest
“Dear Cubana Chief Priest, it’s time to act like a responsible adult with a human heart. Hellen’s first child’s father has stepped up to care for his child, but you have chosen to neglect your own son. How can you harbor such animosity toward your own blood?
“Hellen wouldn’t be fighting this battle if she wasn’t certain of your role in her child’s life. You demanded a DNA test but refused to finance it. If that’s the issue, we’re prepared to raise the funds. Once the DNA test confirms the truth, you must take responsibility. Pascal Okechukwu is your son, and there is no doubt about it.
“Do the right thing while Hellen and her child are still alive. If your actions lead to their demise, I will never forgive you. The public insults and scrutiny are too much for her to bear, especially considering the circumstances of her pregnancy. What more do you want to put this woman and her child through?
