Nigerian socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has thrown subtle shade at Grammy-nominated artist Burna Boy following his loss at the 67th Grammy Awards.
It would be recalled that Burna Boy was among the Nigerian artists nominated for the newly introduced Best African Music Performance category at the prestigious 2025 Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday. He was nominated alongside other top Nigerian artists, including Tems, Asake, and Wizkid.
However, to the excitement of her fans and supporters, Tems emerged as the winner of the category, beating Burna Boy and other nominees to clinch the prestigious award.
Reacting to Burna Boy’s loss, Cubana Chief Priest took to his Instagram story to subtly mock the Afro-fusion star, making a controversial statement about the award outcome.
In his post, he suggested that Tems might not have won if American music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was not currently incarcerated. His post appeared to imply that certain influential figures might have intervened to alter the results had they been free.
He wrote, “If to say Diddy dey outside, dem for use Johnson baby oil rub away her Grammy.”
His statement has sparked mixed reactions among social media users, with many interpreting it as a jab at Burna Boy’s past association with Diddy. The American rapper and producer played a significant role in the production of Burna Boy’s Grammy-winning album, *Twice As Tall*. However, in recent months, Diddy has been embroiled in a series of legal troubles, leading to his arrest by the FBI on multiple charges, including allegations of sexual exploitation.
Burna Boy has faced ongoing criticism and mockery on social media over his past connections with Diddy, with some users suggesting that his affiliation with the embattled rapper once played a role in his Grammy success.
