The clarification was made as a community note attached to a viral post featuring a video of VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, where he alleged the hacking incident had resulted in the theft of ₦180 million from his NGO’s donations account.
In the video, the popular online personality detailed his account of the supposed hacking incident, claiming that his website had been breached, causing the massive loss of funds. The allegations, however, quickly drew skepticism and triggered heated debates on social media platforms.
Prominent public figures, as well as many social media users, dismissed the allegations outright. Speculations arose that the missing funds might have been used for purposes other than what had been disclosed by the influencer, further intensifying the controversy.
