Ugbekile David Osemeke, a rising star in the Nigerian music scene, widely known by his stage name Boy Spyce, recently shared a candid and astonishing story about the extraordinary lengths he once went to in order to express his affection for a former girlfriend.
This revelation came to light during a recent interview on Cool FM Nigeria, where Boy Spyce engaged in conversation with none other than reality TV sensation Tacha.
In this revealing interview, Boy Spyce pulled back the curtain on what he describes as the "most outrageous" manifestation of love he has ever embarked upon. He disclosed that he once went to the extent of borrowing a substantial sum of money to prevent his then-girlfriend from accepting a date invitation from another man.
When probed about the extent of his devotion, Boy Spyce openly admitted, “The furthest I've ever gone for love is borrowing money. It may sound straightforward, but it's a choice I would never make again. I believe in being true to myself, and I won't go to extremes just to impress someone.”
This memorable incident unfolded several years ago, when Boy Spyce was grappling with financial limitations. The amount he borrowed, approximately N50,000, held significant weight for him during that period.
Reflecting on that time, Boy Spyce recounted, “This happened quite a while back, around the time when N50,000 was a substantial sum for me. My then girlfriend expressed a desire to go out and enjoy a meal at a particular place. There was another guy who wanted to take her out, which didn't sit well with me. I questioned why she would consider going out with someone else when she was with me. She mentioned that she had been wanting to visit that place and had a liking for it. That's when I made the decision to borrow the money.”
