Nigerian singer, BNXN, formerly known as Buju, has received backlash following the release of the visuals for his hit track “Gwagwalada,” featuring Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez.

The music video was released on Tuesday, March 7th, and has since caused a buzz online.

The visuals, which was shot by Perlinks Definition, featured a scene of ladies dressed like nuns smoking, and this sparked outrage.

Netizens apparently considered the concept of “nuns smocking” offensive and noted that it was disrespectful to the Christian community.

Reacting to the music video, a Twitter user with the handle @Sharachiii wrote, “The new music video of gwagwalada by Buju, Seyi vibes and kiss Daniel. Is disrespectful to Christianity. How is the lady dressed up as a nun smoking????”.

Another Twitter user, @boyvibezz_ wrote, “These days disrespecting Christ and his doctrines is so easy for peeps.”

Similarly, @big_taata wrote, “This lovely music will now have a bad video indeed life no balance.”

Another user, @sallybabalola, expressed her disappointment and wrote, “LikE really?? Of all the costumes to use why this one? THE DISREGARD FOR GOD, CHRISTIANITY AND THE THINGS OF GOD IN NIGERIA ESP IN THE NIGERIAN ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IS BECOMING ALARMING..It reeks of illuminati?..”

Also, @kaysclose, criticized the scene featuring nuns smoking in the music video and wrote, “Why are nuns smoking in this gwagwalada video?? E ma behave ara yin l’ekokan”.
