Reality star Bella Okagbue from BBnaija responded with prayers to a lady who trolled her for her singing voice, showcasing the toll of constant body shaming she endures.
Bella, expressing her frustration, shared a post on social media addressing the relentless criticism she faces, emphasizing that she is proudly Nigerian and has the right to be herself.
Bella wrote: “I’m constantly body shamed, voice shamed, accent shamed and shamed for everything I do. Enough is enough. I’m Nigerian and I sound Nigerian!!! Let me be!”
The recent incident began when she shared a video of herself and her boyfriend, Sheggz, singing along to a song on her Instagram and Snapchat stories.
Another lady posted this video to Twitter along with a caption that seemed to make fun of Bella’s voice.
Bella responded to the tweet by sending the user a direct message in which she expressed her intense hurt and annoyance.
She cursed the user’s future offspring in her message. Bella stated that even though the user might become wealthy and start a family, her children would not be able to speak.
Bella, who was crying as she typed, claimed that this curse was sent with intense emotional suffering.
She wrote: “For the first time, I will pray for a stranger from the bottom of my heart. You will have money, You will get married, you will even have kids but one of your kids won’t be able to speak. won’t have a voice. You will fly that child round the world seeking for a solution but you won’t find. Mark my words today. Typed this with tears in my eyes and so shall it be.
“I’m somebody’s daughter and I have a voice. It may not sound like a regular girl’s voice but she’s glad I’m able to speak. You shall know no peace. Ijn. Amen. Save today’s date.”
The user, who is identified as Jessica, while sharing a screenshot of Bella’s message wrote: “This is really sad because I posted that video without any intention of harming or saying anything mean. It was just funnyfunny honestly this hurts fr.”
