Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has firmly denied having any form of personal or romantic relationship with former BBNaija reality star Nengi Rebecca Hampson.
The denial comes after rumors surfaced on social media alleging that Nengi had welcomed a child with the Bayelsa Governor, Douye Diri, who is already married to four wives.
The speculation gained traction after controversial blogger, Gistlover, shared a cryptic post alongside a picture of Nengi. The post hinted at an alleged secret relationship between the reality star and the governor, suggesting that she might be on her way to becoming his fifth wife.
Gistlover’s post read: “SHALL WE?? By the way, she welcomed a child with a governor 🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶… 5th wife in the making? Make I talk abi make I face front? All these girls be doing the most, owo ijoba na yansh dey chop am… this gist is super messy… all the hide and seek don end ooo 🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶🚶.”
Reacting to these allegations, the spokesperson of the Bayelsa Governor, Dr. Kola Oredipe, dismissed the claims as completely false, labeling them as “baseless fabrications” designed to tarnish the governor’s reputation.
Oredipe stated: “Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. These rumors are entirely false and have no basis in reality. Regrettably, purveyors of fake news are not happy with the towering political profile of the governor.”
He further condemned the spread of misinformation on social media, stressing that such distractions are harmful and serve no purpose other than to mislead the public.
“This is a distraction, and some of us are very justified in the many reasons offered to regulate the use of various social media platforms,” he added.
He also pointed out that while the governor was busy inaugurating a brand new road in Yenagoa, some individuals were instead focused on spreading baseless falsehoods against him.
